The Challenge: Existing Benalmadena Villa — Fast Turnaround, Clean Installation

The owner of this Benalmadena villa needed ducted air conditioning installed quickly — summer was already arriving. The property had existing ceiling voids in the bathrooms and rooms but no previous AC system. The requirements were clear: indoor units had to be completely hidden inside the ceiling void (no visible wall splits breaking the room finishes), with independent Airzone room-by-room zone control, and the work had to be done with full protection of the villa's existing finishes — floor tiles, glass shower screens and wall tiles all protected throughout.

    • Fast turnaround — the owner needed the system running as soon as possible with summer approaching
    • Fully concealed indoor units — no wall-mounted splits breaking the bathroom or room finishes
    • Airzone zoning for independent temperature control per room
    • Clean working conditions — floor tiles, glass shower screens and wall tiles protected throughout
    • Ceiling access cuts made straight and neat to simplify the plasterer's closing-up work
    • Tidy external routing of refrigerant line sets along the villa's side elevation

    The Equipment: Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9 + Daikin ADEA50A2VEB

    Outdoor Units: 2× Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9

The two outdoor units wall-mounted on the villa's side elevation are the Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9, confirmed from the nameplate label clearly visible in the photos. Manufactured January 2026 in Türkiye for Daikin Europe N.V. (Zandvoordestraat 300, B-8400 Oostende, Belgium). Nameplate data: R32 refrigerant / 0.95 kg charge, 36 kg, 13 A max / 11.8 A max, IPX4, 220-240 V~ / 50 Hz, working pressures PS high/low 3.81 / 3.04 MPa, A2L classification, GWP 675, tCO₂eq 0.65.

Both Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9 outdoor units wall-mounted stacked on villa side elevation, line set routing upward, installation in progress with tools on ground
    Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9 nameplate: R32/0.95 kg, 36 kg, GWP 675, A2L, 13 A max, Made in Türkiye, January 2026, Daikin Europe N.V. Belgium

Indoor Units: Daikin ADEA50A2VEB (Ceiling-Concealed Ducted)

The indoor units installed are the Daikin ADEA50A2VEB, manufactured January 2026 by Daikin Industries Czech Republic s.r.o. (U Nove Hospody 1155/1, 301 00 Plzeň, Czech Republic). Nameplate data: 220-240 V~ / 50 Hz (also 220 V~ / 60 Hz rated), 1.4 A, 28 kg, IPX0, A2L classification, maximum working pressure 4.17 MPa. Ceiling-concealed ducted fan-coil unit — the only visible elements in the finished room are the supply grille and the return air grille.

    Airzone Zoning: Independent Room-by-Room Control

The system includes Airzone zoning, visible in the photos from the motorised zone dampers and Airzone control bus wiring routed through the ceiling voids. Airzone allows each room to maintain its own temperature setpoint independently — when a zone is unoccupied the damper closes and the Daikin compressor reduces its load accordingly, delivering real electricity savings versus a single-zone system. On a Benalmadena villa running AC from May to October, proper zoning makes a meaningful difference to the summer electricity bill.

Rob Greeves — Daikin Certified Installer, Costa del Sol
"The ADEA50A2VEB is Daikin's workhorse ceiling-concealed ducted unit for Costa del Sol villas — built in Plzeň and refined over years for exactly this kind of installation. What you see in the photos, the unit hanging on the acrow prop while we level and connect it, is the correct process: you enter the void, hang the unit off the unistrut channels, level it, connect the copper line set and condensate, and then you leave. When the plasterer closes that ceiling, you will not see that unit again for ten years. That is exactly why we default to Daikin in this category — the fan bearings, the motor, the heat exchanger are all long-life components. The alternative of putting cheap kit inside a plastered ceiling on a Benalmadena villa is a recipe for an expensive problem at the worst possible moment. The two ARXM35A5V1B9 units on the side wall are R32 / A2L — the nameplate makes it clear: 0.95 kg charge, GWP 675. These are the units built in Türkiye for the European market, carrying Daikin Europe's Belgian stamp. The A2L refrigerant handling on site, the Testo digital manifold commissioning, the nitrogen pressure test you can see in the photos — all of that is F-Gas work. It is not something you improvise."

Craig Whitham — Electrical Lead, Agua Therm
"On a ducted AC install with Airzone there are two things you do not cut corners on. First: the inverter compressor circuits — both ARXM35A5V1B9 units — each go on their own Type A 30 mA RCBO. Not Type AC. Type AC is blind to the pulsating DC component that an inverter compressor can generate during a winding fault — it will not trip when it should, and that is the failure mode where someone gets hurt. On this Benalmadena installation, Type A on every compressor circuit, no exceptions. Second: the Airzone communication bus is low-voltage but it does not tolerate interference. It runs in its own conduit, separated from the 230 V mains, on dedicated control cable. Run the Airzone bus alongside a power circuit and you will get intermittent zoning faults that nobody can diagnose for months — dampers will open and close randomly and the client will assume the system is faulty when in reality it is a wiring problem. What you see in the ceiling-void photos — the white Airzone wiring running separately from the power cables — is not accidental. That is the correct way to do the installation."

    Installation Process

    1

Site survey: ceiling void depths measured in each room and route planned for refrigerant line sets to the outdoor units on the side elevation

    2

Ceiling access openings cut straight and clean to simplify the plasterer's close-up

    3

Daikin ADEA50A2VEB indoor units raised into the ceiling void and supported temporarily with steel acrow props (visible in photos) while levelling and connecting

    4

Copper refrigerant line sets run to outdoor units with neat external trunking; condensate drain runs to waste in white PVC

    5

Airzone control bus wiring (low-voltage) routed separately from 230 V mains inside the ceiling void

    6

Both Daikin ARXM35A5V1B9 outdoor units mounted to the villa's side wall, stacked, with line sets rising in surface trunking

    7

Professional commissioning: Testo digital manifold connected to service ports, nitrogen cylinder for pressure testing (both visible in photos), full cooling and heating cycle test

    8

Full protection of finishes throughout: floor covering, shower screens and wall tiles protected
